United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) today announced the appointment of Steve Kohon, Chief Operating Officer at Bluberi Gaming, and Lauri Thompson, attorney with Greenberg Traurig and professor of Entertainment Law at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, to its Board of Directors.
Kohon joined Bluberi in 2021 as Vice President of Sales, West, and has since expanded his leadership responsibilities to oversee the company’s Operations, Service, and IT divisions. Prior to Bluberi, he spent more than a decade with Konami Gaming, where he held a variety of leadership roles ranging from Product Manager to Senior Director of Sales. Kohon earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and his MBA from UNLV. Outside of work, he enjoys supporting his children at his son’s basketball practices and games and his daughter’s dance classes and recitals, attending rock concerts with his wife, and spending time with friends.
“It is with great pride that I accept this position on the board of United Way of Southern Nevada,” said Kohon. “UWSN’s unwavering commitment to bettering our communities has deeply resonated with me, and I look forward to supporting their mission of improving the lives of families and individuals throughout Southern Nevada.”
Thompson is a shareholder and attorney with the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, where she focuses on entertainment law, trademarks, copyrights, and rights of publicity. She has practiced law in Las Vegas for 28 years and is a member of the State Bars of Nevada, California, and Washington, D.C. Thompson also teaches Entertainment Law at the College of Fine Arts at UNLV and is a 2010 graduate of Leadership Las Vegas, a program developed by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. Since completing the program, she has helped shape future classes by serving on the committee responsible for developing curriculum in the History & Arts and Gaming & Entertainment tracks.
Beyond her professional achievements, Thompson has dedicated significant time to serving the Southern Nevada community through a variety of nonprofit and civic organizations. She currently serves on the executive boards of Nevada Ballet Theatre and Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada Variety. She is also Past President of Variety – The Children’s Charity of Southern Nevada, a member of the League of Women Voters and the Nevada Women’s Lobby and previously served as President of the American Association of University Women, Las Vegas Branch.
“United Way of Southern Nevada holds a very special place in my heart, and it is truly a privilege to continue my work with them as a member of their board,” said Thompson. “I greatly admire the multitude of initiatives that UWSN takes to uplift anyone in need throughout Southern Nevada, and I am ready to continue building on that foundation to support even more members of our communities.”
As members of the Board of Directors, Kohon and Thompson will help guide UWSN’s strategic vision and governance as the organization continues its mission to unite the community to improve people’s lives.
“We are proud to welcome two incredibly passionate and well-rounded individuals to our Board of Directors, both of whom exemplify the commitment to community service that UWSN stands for,” said Samuel Rudd, President and CEO of UWSN. “The combined experience that Lauri and Steve bring is invaluable to our organization and will undoubtedly help guide us toward a brighter tomorrow.”
